The benches of the church - pantheon of Comillas, as the seats, were designed from the year 1878 by Anton Gaudí and were constructed, probably a bit later, in Eduard Puntí's workshops, in Barcelona. They were inaugurated by the pantheon, on August 28, 1881. They are done of wood of walnut. Its structure and its forms are an example of Gothic construction, demonstrating as Gaudí had assimilated the agreements of Viollet-le-Duc (1814-1879). Every bench has two lateral terminals very sculptured. These wings consist of three pointed arches, with a few thinnest vegetable stylizations, probably of gourd or some another climbing plant. Below, in an elongated rectangle, there appears the height of a winged dragoon. He is a symbol very used by Gaudí in his works destined to his client and friend Eusebi Güell. It comes from the warrior helmet of the king James I of Aragon, sovereign of Catalonia, since in medieval Catalan "dragoon" it was said "daragó" and therefore it was meaning "d'Aragó", of Aragon. The model of plaster of this dragoon it had been prepared by Llorenç Matamala.
