July 2012: Window of the Portal of the Faith

As at altitudes the tower of Jesus Christ surrounded by the four evangelists grows and at the West angle is building the roof of the vestry, has begun to do a repair on the Nativity façade. It is very important, because there are stones and forms placed personally by Gaudí, and therefore protected by UNESCO, as it is artistic and cultural heritage of all humanity. Gaudi was 44 years old when he finished this window. It was in 1896, a year that the works of the Temple were further than any previous, and four towers of the Nativity façade reached 20 m. high. The window, gothic trace, has a mullion, is a central column. The mullion has been temporarily replaced by an iron tube. Around, Gaudí sculpt a rosary of three divisions, which is used to do "Trisagium angelicum", a praise and worship that expresses faith in the Trinity praying three series of nine of a formula which repeats three times the holiness of God. All this, with the corresponding initial, middle and end prayers. The rosary, to mark the divisions, has large medals, in which Gaudí sculpted images of popular devotion to Mary: Montserrat, the Pilar, the Good Death, etc… In front of the window, highlight the image of the Child Jesus in the Temple of Jerusalem, when shown his divinity to doctors in Israel, demanding their faith. Weighs five tons and gently lifts the eyes and the arm to the heaven, where low beam his divine inspiration. Forty years after Gaudí did the window, endured the fire of 1936, the start of the Spanish Civil War. Seventy-six years since that destroyed have passed, until the time of restoration.
