The Cornet were an ancestral family, original from Mas Cornet, placed to few kilometers from Santa Coloma de Queralt (county of the Conca de Barberà). Jaume Joan Cornet was a farmer and he married Antònia Llombart, form Santa Coloma de Queralt. Their son Carles Cornet i Llombart emigrated to Reus, where he was beater of copper, and he married in 1764 Maria Sans i Fernandes, neighbor of Reus. Maria Sans was a daughter of Miquel Sans i Barbones and of Maria Fernandes i Salvat, both of Reus, city of that they were her parents, her grandparents and all the known predecessors. Their son Anton Cornet i Sans (Reus 1771-1856) was a coppersmith in Reus. He married Maria Betran i Buxeda, of Tarragona and daughter of Josep Bertran i Patxo, fisherman of the same city of Tarragona. They are the mother grandparents of Anton Gaudí. Of this couple eight children were born, among them, in Reus and in 1813, Antònia Cornet i Bertran, mother of Anton Gaudí.
