When Gaudí was twenty-four years old and was towards the end of his studies of Architecture, the Ateneu Barcelonès summoned an extraordinary contest of drawings for the application for the industry. Gaudí was frequenting the Ateneu and he became an associate for that epoch. The summons appeared on December 1, 1876 in the "Diario de Barcelona", in the "Gaceta de Barcelona" and in "Crónica de Catalunya". Gaudí annotated it in his record-book and prepared a drawing for the topic of furniture, which was consisting obligatorily of a "project of furniture for a confidence room for a family of regular fortune". According to Ràfols, Gaudí's work came to the Ateneu on April 1, 1877. The prize of the topic of furniture, yielded by the Regional Government of Barcelona, was declared desert.
